一个贝塔运动的范例。贝塔运动时常和飞现象被互相混淆，但这两个是不同的错视现象<ref name="PhiIsNotBeta"/>

飞现象（英语：Phi phenomenon）是一个由马科斯·韦特墨在1912年的一篇期刊文章《Experimental Studies on the Seeing of Motion》所提出的知觉错觉现象（错视）。其中描述一连串静态图片却会造成移动的错觉。在讨论电影和视讯原理时，常会被误认为贝塔运动。但这两个其实是不同的现象。

在典型的飞现象实验中，观众被要求看两个接续出现的图片。在第一张图片的左边会有一条线，而在第二张图片则是在右边有一条线。这两张图片可能会快速呈现或是让观众有几秒的时间观看。在呈现两张图片之后，观众要描述他们看到了什么。

观看者在结合了这两张图片的时间和空间讯息之后，即使观众看到的是两个分离的线条，观众仍然会报告出在这两条线之间有东西移动的感觉。观众似乎看到了一个和背景颜色相同的空间或是“云”在移动。飞现象的发现对于格式塔心理学（Gestalt psychology）而言是重要的发现。
